Asphalt Millings: The Cost-Effective Paved Driveway
Asphalt millings (sometimes called RAP, recycled asphalt pavement) are reclaimed material from road resurfacing jobs. We deliver, spread, grade, and compact them into a hard, paved-feeling surface at a fraction of the cost of new asphalt.
Millings are the right choice for long rural driveways, secondary access roads, farm lanes, and any property where you want a paved feel without the paved price. We're laying a lot of millings across Sussex County NJ and rural Hunterdon County for this reason.

How much do asphalt millings cost in NJ?
Millings are the cheapest paved option, typically 40 to 60 percent below new asphalt per square foot. On long rural drives that percentage turns into real money, which is why millings are so common out here on 500 ft and longer approaches.
How long do millings last?
10-15 years for residential use with periodic re-compaction. They settle and densify with traffic; year 2 may benefit from a roll-pass.
Do millings look like asphalt?
Darker and more textured. Once compacted they feel and drive like asphalt but the look is more rustic and slightly variegated in color.
Can you plow millings?
Yes, use a poly or rubber-edge plow. Metal can scrape loose material over time.
Will millings track into my garage?
Minimal once compacted. The first month you may see some loose grit. Long term it's similar to asphalt.
